In late 2014 (in the Intelligent Investor) we warned investors about a new period we expected to begin within one to three years. Since then we have witnessed several historic events strengthening the argument that this new period has commenced. A brief list of these events is as follows...

Last month we provided an overview of what we believed represented the largest risks within the global economy. Accordingly, we issued bearish guidance and advised selling, trimming or protecting positions with covered calls. This worked out well. And for those who were involved in premarket trading on August 24, 2015 when the markets collapsed, many of our most conservative reentries and new positions triggered. In fairness, this was not the time to be buying blindly based on price targets. It was a day of panic.
